Mountain Speedway adds seven shows for 2008

   If the 2008 Mountain Speedway schedule hasn’t already excited the many fans that frequent the popular one-third mile asphalt oval located in St. Johns, Pennsylvania, then the addition of seven race dates should really rev up their engines.
   More importantly, is the addition of Sport Modifieds, for all seven race dates. Sport Mods have been growing in popularity here in the Northeast, and provide an avenue for those looking to move up to the full blown Modified ranks.
   “We are currently working on a set of rules to incorporate similar cars such as WTS, Sportsman, SK Lites, and SST type Modifieds for these added shows”, stated co-promoter Mike Odwazny.
   “We have been flooded with phone calls over the last several months about adding an alternative Modified class. The level of competition and excitement is nearly equal to the full blown Modifieds”, Odwazny added.
   Along with the Sport Mods, will be Legends race cars which are miniature replicas of early style race cars from the 30s and 40s, powered by motorcycle engines. Super Stocks, which are essentially Street Stocks that have a full bodied Late Model stock car appearance, will round out the three division show. Some additional divisions or touring series, may be added.
   A few of the race dates will fall either the day before or after the full blown Modifieds are on the card, providing fans with a double header Modified weekend, which is sure to see many folks setting up camp and providing a boost to area businesses and the local economy.
